A No artwork Post!

Gosh, it's been a while since I posted anything. I have made some awesome cards lately, but got them into the post without taking a pic of them. Drats! I have also been to Grandparent's Day at my grands' elementary school, which was blast in itself. Grandson #2 and grandson #3 both had their designated times at the same time, which created a problem, sorta! So my friend Curley and  I took on grandson #2 and the other grandparent (really an aunt of my daughter-in-laws who raise her when her mom passed.) took grandson #3's room visit. Then we attended a book fair, where each child could purchase a book, if they had the money (way too much). Of course Grandpa had a stash of cash  (furnished ahead of time from my son) and "softie" Curley forked over a tidy sum, so R got a couple of books. it was fun and wonderful visiting in the classroom, seeing projects, meeting the teacher and observing just what 2nd graders are doing and learning these days. Big class, and lots going on. I think what they are learning, I learned in 3rd grade back in the day!!

In other news, my daughter who has been a single parent for 22 years got married recently. She and her guy have known each other for a long time, graduated high school together in 1990, and reconnected about 7 years ago when they ended up working in the same place. Both had been married and divorced, have sons, had left the state during the in-between years, and had come back to their "homeland" and settled here. The two of them have lived together for the last 4 years and decided it was time to tie the knot. They just called me one evening and said, "Guess what, Dad. We eloped today!"  They had hinted, but I really had forgotten that they might. I congratulated them and wished them well. They are both nearing 50 and know what they are doing, have good jobs and are extremely happy!

Some health issues and the dastardly Indiana weather have kept me close to home lately, but things are leveling out and the weather might take a turn and start warming up sometime in the near future. If today's 60 degree and sunshine is any indication, maybe winter is waving goodbye for a few months.

Just this week I read a post on the infamous Facebook that, to sum it up, blamed all the crisis going on in our country, namely the racial uprising, on taking God out of the schools. The ol’ separation of church and state issue that’s been going on for decades.   This whole posting did nothing but make me angry!   It certainly displayed ignorance on the part of the writer! Any educator in a public school, or most of them anyhow, will attest that God is alive and well in our school systems. As an educator I saw Him every day, and even though I’ve been retired for a decade, I know He still is there. Another Loss

How much loss is a family supposed to endure? Just asking! This afternoon, my son called. He and his wife had been for their first ultrasound of their 5th child, due in September. He told me that the news was not good. The baby was the perfect size for the first trimester, but there was no heartbeat. He was devastated. They were both looking forward to this baby and he/she was going to be their last, as age was becoming a factor, especially for Mommy. I am feeling sad for them this evening. I know that God has a plan for them, and a new baby at this time must not have been in His plan. So we will all go forward, accepting this, but left wondering that age old question...why? They have an appointment with my daughter-in-law's OB doc on Monday to decide what happens next. Happy Birthday to Me!

Yep! The calendar says that I am another year older! A cousin asked me if I was 29 again. I said, "yes for the 45th year in a row!!" After I did the math, on paper!! How do I feel about being 74 today? Who cares! I don't feel any older than I did yesterday. I don't feel much older than I did 10 years ago. Oh, yeah, it takes me a little longer to get going in the mornings, but after my coffee and morning routine,  I ready for the day.  The worst part about being older is the way other people perceive you when they find out how old you are. When you reach a "certain" age, I have found that you become almost invisible to most people. Not saying that about my close family and friends, but to the general public, clerks in stores, etc. older adults are mostly ignored! That's okay in most things. If I need help, I'm not too shy to ask. There are perks, too, but right now I can't think of a one. Certainly not healthcare. The price rises yearly, and...
