Welcome to my Craft Room.

Since retirement, I have become interested in Mixed Media art. Cardmaking is a favorite of mine, but I do attempt to create some other pieces as I go along. I love trying new products, and have a plethora of both old and new. I follow a few artists on YouTube, and have some favorites. I also have some favorite products that are my "go to's." As I go along, I will try to share what I have done, and also share some of my favorite products.
So, with out further ado, I shall carry on. (Note here that any pictures I post on here are my feeble attempts at photography, unless I give credit to someone else.)

This is a mixed media pic I did using a watercolor background, texture paste through a stencil and cut paper. The cardinal was free hand, then painted with watercolor and finished with a watercolor pencil. The "snow" around the edges is texture paste "smeared" on with a palette knife.

I belong to a Facebook group called Mission Inspiration. Every month we are given a prompt to use to create a piece of art. It can be a card or it can be another form of art. This was my January, 2018 creation.

Mission Inspiration also has a mid month "mini inspiration" prompt. January's was "Jazzy" leaning towards anything musical. I had a great time creating this using my Cricut, some punches, and some shiny silver paper. I also used lots of red glitter. Let me just say this: I HATE GLITTER! It is my nemesis! (I did see that one of the craft paint manufacturers is coming out with glitter in a clear liquid that can be applied with a brush. Not like the ol' glitter glue. Yay!)

February's prompt on Mission Inspiration had to do with "steampunk." Now, I am not into that movement at all, not even sure what it is all about. It's very popular in Great Britain right. One of the artists that I follow is a big fan of "steampunk" so I surveyed his work, and dove into my supplies and this is what I came up with. I used texture paste, which I tinted brown, through a "brick" stencil on watercolor paper (140 lbs) on which I had sprayed a dilute of watercolor and water. The clock piece is metallic paper run through my Big Shot embosser with an embossing folder. What looks like galvanized metal is simply silver metallic paper cut into strips and run through a paper crimper.

In college, my art professor always said, "Create something, even it's wrong." My theory is that there is no "wrong" in art. There are plenty of "learning experiences, though!"

Go, create something!!!
