Hey, It's What I Do!!
The weather hasn't been very cooperative here in the midwest, so I've been staying in the "studio" (think cluttered dining room) a lot. Experimenting with new techniques and a few new products, besides dragging out some older stuff that I haven't used for a long time, and a couple I even had forgotten that I had. So here's the latest batch of cards. Yeah, I know, boring if you're not into carding. But, like the title says, "it's what I do!"
This card wa made by stamping with watermark ink on orange cardstock, then brushing on gold Perfect Pearls. The sentiment is stamped, and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
The stripes in this card are made with a "paint streak" stamp using dye inks. Then I stencilled the tree on top. Added a stamped sentiment.
Another stamp, this one looks like a woven square. Then stamped the flowers and sentiment with black Archiver's ink.
I have a dear sweet friend who is leaving the midwest for the sunny south to live. I made this card for her to say "g'bye" and enjoy the journey! Background is made with my $1.97 Crayola watercolors bought in the kid's craft department of my local "big-box" store that begins with a "W." I stamped the sentiment with a stamp from a set by Tim Holtz, and the flower, which looks like "queen Anne's lace" to me, is from a set that I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I never save the packaging from things that I have special storage for, so I am not even going to venture a name.
Seems the older I get, the more sympathy cards I need to make. I love, love, love this card. It's simple and elegant. The wheat motif was from the same stamp set as the one above. I stamped it on 3 different colors of "watercolor paper" from Ms Sparkle (Joann's craft department, $1.99 for a pad of 24 5.5x7.5" sheets in 8 colors) and stamped the sentiment and butterfly in black on a piece of white 65# cardstock and attached it with "pop dots."
More watercolored background with stamping.
I fell in "like" with this paper. It came in a pad from the "W" big box store and has several sheets of 8.5x11" sheets in several different colors. I stamped the design with watermark ink, added pearl Perfect Pearls. I cut the "thanks" from silver cardstock on my Cricut. I added white stick-on pearls here and there, then dotted "water drops" on the card with Glossy Accents. I mounted it on heavy weight silver cardstock.
The Perfect Pearls was something I picked up recently and am learning how to use them. They are a mica powder, and can be used dry like I used them. or put a dab in a drop or two of water and they create a beautiful metallic watercolor.
I have been fighting a health issue this past week, so maybe it's okay that the weather hasn't been too nice. As a matter of fact, I came out of the Dr.'s office this morning and it was snowing like crazy. But, I came home and low and behold, there in my mailbox, another package of crafty stuff from Amazon. So keep watching here. I got some new, very creative looking dies for my die cut machine!!
Have a good week,
Go, create something!!
