Rant! So be Prepared!!
I know! You are thinking why is this guy writing a "rant" when this is supposed to be a craft blog. Well, it's my blog and I guess that gives me the right to write whatever I want to write.
This is about one of my former students, who by the way, was a marvelous student, became president of his class and finally student body president as a senior in high school. He was an outstanding athlete and scholar and had gone far since graduating from college in the spring of '17. I found out just today that this young man came "out" recently as gay. So what is so bad about that, you are asking yourselves? (At least I would hope that is what you would be asking!) My answer is "absolutely nothing!"
Now the reason for the rant! This young man who I will simply call N has been disowned by his family. His parents and grandparents will have nothing to do with him. He has an uncle and aunt that still are holding him close and he has been spending holidays with them.
What kind of people are these people who would disown their own son and grandson because of a life style. Would they rather him live a lie just to save face with them. I simply don't understand this thought process. N is still the same guy, still a neat young man, still super smart, loving and kind just like he's always been. Is who he is as a person changed? I think not!!! Children are such a gift that we as parents and grand parents should rejoice that we were given the chance to have them in our lives, not cast them aside because of their own adult decisions, just because they don't agree!!
I am really pissed at N's parents and grandparents. I know the grandparents well,. Or thought I did. Now I am not too sure. What is wrong with these people!!!
I want to contact N and let him know that I am behind him all the way and very supportive of his life choices. I'm making it a mission to find him and let him know. I also am praying that the parents and grandparents will some day wise up!!
Thanks for letting me rant!
Until next time,
